CHARITY

The Society of Mary and Martha was founded in 1987.
It is an independent ecumenical charity (registered number 327394).

(See Charity Commission website for independent verification of status)

The charity's primary objective is to support people in Christian ministry and/or their spouses, especially at times of stress, crisis, burnout or breakdown. This national, specialist work is set within a broadly based retreat and education framework.

Most resources on our own programme are open to everyone.
We welcome a wide variety of self-catering groups running their own church, community, family, education, special needs or interfaith resources.

Charity Trustees are elected by existing Trustees, and meet at Sheldon 3 times a year.

Carl Lee is the Society's Founder and Warden of Sheldon.

The Society is completely independent and receives no statutory government funding nor routine grants from any church authorities. The charity's solvency depends entirely on fees from guests and donations from supporters.
