The members of the Sheldon Community are committed to a simple rhythm of prayer that underpins our daily routine on weekdays:
  • short form of Morning Prayer at 8am
  • reading and silence at 5pm
  • sometimes night prayers at 9pm or 9.30pm
The Eucharist is celebrated once or twice a month.
A vigil is held a few times a year before special occasions such as the Community Re-dedication.
The Annual Eucharist is held every July, usually attended by 100-200 Friends, and often including an extra celebration or blessing. In 2004 it was followed by the blessing of the Prayer Meadow.

Daily morning prayers include
  • a monthly cycle of prayer for Friends of the Society
  • the cycle of prayer for clergy and parishes in the diocese of Exeter
  • prayers for guests in residence
  • prayers for those who have specifically asked for prayers at times of stress, illness, bereavement, transition, etc
  • a daily focus on church leaders (Mon), the Teign Valley (Tue), international needs (Wed), the whole ministry of the Society (Thu), Community members' families, Sheldon staff, volunteers & trustees.
Prayers are usually held in the Chapel of Mary, Martha and Lazarus. Our style is quiet and simple, and guests are welcome to join as much or as little as they wish.
The Chapel of Christ the Servant is open for private prayer at all times.

Special services are also held from time to time.
