It gave me the time out of time and a place out of the world where, without all the distractions of daily life, I was unable to avoid issues that have, for a while now, required sitting with. Not that answers have been forthcoming – contemplation is rarely as convenient as that, but I have discovered a ‘way for being’ with these issues that allows me to see them a little more clearly for what they are. Too many words here – but simply and with all my heart, ‘Thank you’. For the so-peaceful space, for the ‘held’ environment. It has helped me to re-connect to the sacred within. |
| |
| I very much enjoyed my stay at Sheldon. Thank you for making the booking. I found the experience extremely beneficial and felt quite privileged to have had the opportunity to come and spend a few days there. Something I hope to be able to repeat one day! |
| |
... the beauty and tranquil surroundings, with the privacy I needed; this retreat has helped me to sort out some problems in my life. I thank you, it has been a privilege to stay here; lastly thank you for the well stocked fridge. Please may I come back. |

The setting is wonderful – lots of peaceful areas to walk and explore. The pig pen was very comfortable and had everything you could need for a short stay. The buildings I went into had a very positive feel about them, small cosy library, welcoming reception area and beautiful peaceful medieval chapel. I loved all the animals particularly the larger and very affectionate black cat with the white patch on her chest. The staff were very kind, helpful and unobtrusive. I was able to find peace and quiet at a trying time in my life. Thank you. |
| |
| It has been just what I needed! The ‘stock your larder’ catering has been excellent and very generous. The facilities of the library again stocked with refreshments and the invitation to use art materials etc. has added to my enjoyment. It has been good to be able to walk further afield in the ‘quiet half’ of the grounds. The decoration and furnishings in the Pig Pen are excellent and I shall miss my Gloucester Pig! It has been pleasing to be in a place where the loop system is a) switched on and b) working*. I came to find God here and indeed I have. *N.B. The last time I stayed at Sheldon you had gone to the trouble of purchasing a mobile loop system for my use. At the time I was very impressed with what you had done. Over time I have realized how far thinking you are in your support to people with hearing disabilities, since I have had many problems in other Christian centres. Thank you very much. I would have found my stay more helpful if there had been the occasional small sign or directive in the copse area and at the back of the open air theatre. |
| |
The self-catered meals and pig pen setup meant I could devote myself to rest and listening to God. I had a lovely time, thank you for putting so much thought and care into the retreat even down to matching Tamworth pig mugs! I really appreciated the bath being made available. I can’t think of anything that would have made my stay more helpful/enjoyable. |
| |
It is such a lovely place to be refreshed, in every way. The wonderful (in the full sense of the word) views and countryside to walk in have been a great blessing to me, as have the peacefulness and gardens of the Centre itself. However, beneath that exterior I know that it must take a huge amount of work to keep things so clean, neat and smooth running, and I am very thankful for each member of the community who, so unobtrusively, work so hard to provide this great service to clergy, their wives and lay folk alike. It is much appreciated – thank you all. I would have found my stay at Sheldon more enjoyable if there could have been a muslin curtain on the door window of the pig pen, as there was on the main window. As it was, I had to pull the main curtain on it on occasion which made the room a little dark. Just a tiny suggestion, to save anyone going by having the shock of seeing my sometimes all-action worship style! Overall, I was very impressed by how so many small things had been thought of to aid your guests’ comfort. Thank you again. P.S. I would love to see the cockerels have a bit more run in their hutch! |
| |
The Pig Pen had everything I could possibly need… I was able to relax, pray, write, sleep, walk and more in any order I needed! Thank you SO MUCH. I felt the support of the community around me and the whole site was conducive to both taking apart and putting back together. I can’t think of anything which would have made my stay more helpful etc. |
| |
… solitude, ethos of hospitality, beauty of surroundings, massage. I would have found it more useful/helpful/enjoyable if… only having more time. Otherwise it could not have been better. |
| |
It was easy and straightforward to book (especially considering that I booked at the last minute) – it was quiet and welcoming |
| |
| The Setting. I realize I came at a very quiet time for you, but even so, the peace and tranquility of the place is restorative in itself. I spent much of my waking time wandering the fields and copses, pausing here and there to be still. The Variety. From wind-blown hill tops to secluded ancient copses; from the unexpected delight of a seat by wind chimes to the medieval chapel – there are so many different places to BE (plus library, another chapel, quiet room and my pig pen itself….). The Pig Pen. All I can say is that pigs live in some style at Sheldon! In particular I appreciated the spaciousness of the living area, not to mention the high specification of all the fittings and THAT VIEW! Self-Catering as an option is fantastic. I prefer it and it keeps the cost down. In Brief – why didn’t I discover Sheldon years ago? Won’t be long before I’m back. I’m going to recommend it to my whole staff team and anyone else in ministry. Thank you! |
| |
| I had space and privacy. I needed time away after a difficult time in my ministry and I was very impressed with the Pig Pen. Everything I needed for a comfortable stay was there. Facilities were great. Food plentiful, varied and very tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful. My few days (my first here) were a great help. I was also able to conclude my time with a jacuzzi and massage. Thank you to everyone at Sheldon. I honestly can’t think of anything that would have made my stay more enjoyable – maybe music and teaching CD’s in the library (they may have been there – apologies if they were!) |
| |
| Just a word of great thanks for this wonderful place that you provide at Sheldon. It was wonderful to be left alone to think and read and work and pray – and all backed up with such a beautiful space and fantastic food… so thank you very much to all concerned. |
| |
| I was left to do my own thing. All details had been thought about. I felt very cared for in a grown-up way. It was beautifully peaceful and quiet. I felt understood. It would have been better if it had been longer!! |
| |
... the ambience of prayer, understanding and empathy; the facilities are of a high standard and thoughtfully equipped; the location and the quiet have a healing quality; we were warmly welcomed and our needs recognised; the building and grounds are beautifully maintained. |

| I found my stay enjoyable because of the peace and quiet, plus nice walks. Thank you! |
| |
It gave me the space to rest and recuperate but more than that spending time sifting through with God a hard six months and he answered my prayers showing me the whys and the way forward. Your accommodation and setting are wonderful, and although a reluctant guest I thank God for your ministry here and look forward to returning. The next time I will come not because I have to but because I want to, and for this place to be a part of my walk of faith is part of why God brought me here, a sanctuary in the midst of great busyness. A place for the wounded and hurt of the battle, to find rest, peace and restoration. A hermitage, praise God. |
| |
| The Pig Pens are well equipped, warm, very welcoming and most of all have wonderful views. There are numerous walks to enjoy, and find peace and comfort on all parts of the Sheldon grounds. It would have been helpful if we had a potato masher – we made do with a fork! |
| |
| Staff and situation helped me to relax immediately; great to have my own uninterrupted ‘space’; top standard of fitting out with many ‘social’ features; imaginative stocking of food (especially ambrosia custard not allowed at home); unexpected facility to watch Murray on high qualityTV!; excellent walk maps. Wish I could stay longer! |
| |
| It gave me the space to rest, reflect and pray in the midst of a stressful time. Everyone at Sheldon was kind and helpful, without being intrusive. The Pig Pen was fantastic, clean, comfortable and modern. Every morning I was greeted by chirps of birds. It’s a beautiful space to be. Thank you. It would have been more enjoyable if I had known fresh coffee was in the fridge, directions to the nearest supermarket/petrol station. |
| |
| I came here with lots of books to read and things to do but instead I just went for a walk and did nothing. It was lovely! Beautiful views, very restful atmosphere, very interesting library. A very natural place to pray. Thank you. Wish I could have stayed longer. I would have found it more helpful if there was an oven, but that is being very picky, and if you could have sorted out the weather. |
| |
| My stay combined a high standard of accommodation with beautiful surroundings and the understanding of the community of one’s need to be quiet and undisturbed. This is a good place to have quality time in the Father’s presence. |
| |
| (1) The Pig Pen is fantastic. Clean, comfortable, well equipped – wonderful. (2) The books, CDs, DVDs in the library all enhanced my stay. (3) The massage was very calm and healing. (4) The atmosphere was quiet and I was not interfered with! Thank you all for making such a lovely space. Nothing anyone could have done to make it better. I take responsibility for not bringing enough food and I should have thought to bring some wine. I think I may prefer to sleep on the “upstairs bit”, if possible next time, maybe is that a big hassle for you? But maybe not looking at that ladder!!! |
| |
| ... the peace and quiet, excellent accommodation so thoughtfully prepared with great attention to detail – evidence of love. Friendly and non intrusive staff, beautiful surroundings. It was just what I needed and I look forward to coming again. |
| |
Quiet and restful time with a mix of reading, reflection and outings!
….I’m sure there isn’t much that can be done But I do find the arm chairs in the Pig Pens particularly uncomfortable either for reading or watching TV. I found myself sneaking to the library to find a bit of comfort from the green armchair there! |
| |

I had space for me. The beautiful surroundings, countryside and well kept grounds helped me to relax in the presence of God. I loved my little pig-pen. It was so comfortable and homely and I so much enjoyed sitting on the patio just soaking in the beauty of all around me. I felt so spoiled! I liked the freedom of preparing my meals when I was ready for them. Thank you to everyone for your gentle caring. I felt the presence of both Martha and Mary throughout my week. I’ll be back! |
| |
Beautifully appointed Pig Pen with lovely view and grounds. Perfect peace except that we found the school children rather noisy with constant to and fro in the mornings and evenings. Occasionally we felt like a gold fish in a bowl as we were stared at. Wonderful relaxing massage. |
| |
… This week has offered an important space and sanctuary which has enabled me to progress my writing to and through an important stage. As ever the hospitality, kindness, attention to detail and distance in terms of offering personal space has been perfect. The Pig Pens are brilliant, just right. The food in my stocked larder was most enjoyable and just the right amount. The refurbished chapel has been a very helpful/beautiful/peaceful resource. Also good the walk up to the new fields and the bench at the top give that sense of getting away. If I was really nitpicking I would say that the upholstered, easy chairs were not very comfortable. THANKS to you all – I look forward to coming again, as ever THANKS FOR YOUR LOVING CARE. |
| |
… It gave me a chance to get away and to talk with someone confidentially. I should have realized I needed longer. |
| |
~ The peace the atmosphere.
~ The food from the stocked larder.
~The comfort. The heated towel rail in Gloucester Pig Pen is extremely hot. I burned my elbow on it. Can it either be turned down but not off or, alternatively there needs to be a warning notice when manoeuvring in the bathroom!
[Webeditor: We have had our heating engineer out and this problem has been resolved] |

… it gave me the peace, space and tranquility that I needed in a wonderfully caring but unobtrusive community ... such a beautiful place even in the rain. |
| |
… Sheldon and the community provided a space at a time of crisis. A space to be quiet, listen to God, collect my thoughts, retrace my steps. The community unobtrusively provided for all my practical needs and were always on hand to provide emotional and spiritual support. I would give my highest recommendation to anyone seeking rest, healing particularly at times of stress or crisis. Thank you so much. May God sustain you as He has me through you. |
| |
… of your excellent, thoughtful unobtrusive hospitality. Thank you to you all! |

~ when I arrived I was excited at renewing shared peace at Sheldon . Of course I was bowled over by welcoming of all the staff in a quiet reassuring way and the sheer excellence of the new Pig Pens!
~
my wonderfully overstocked fridge and cupboard - such luxury for me to be so enfolded!
~
the delight of being able to walk the paths, fields, copse, garden and courtyard all so lovingly tended.
~
the privilege of sharing morning and evening office in the new chapel and the now warm, simple, awesome old chapel that's available for our needs. It has helped me to again start to bring more discipline into my daily life – away from the day to day pressures. I've allowed to pursue me and distract from my special and desperate need of our Dear Father's grace, love, peace and joy. I thank you all especially Jan for a great massage! May God continue to bless you all in your ministries so needed and much appreciated and may his presence be in every being and space of Sheldon – giving new life as in spring eternally! |
| |
… it has been a much needed break – just wish it was much longer. I will be back because the attention to detail makes Sheldon a special place. I love being able to wander around the grounds – especially at night! And the sheep and deer are great companions in reflections. I love the place at the top of the hill. Its good to join people at the bar – even on a retreat I still need some people contact. The best thing of all is space for God. Thank you for allowing that. The food was great and I'd definitely go for ‘larder stock' again
I would have found my stay more useful/helpful/enjoyable if … as a newcomer to the ‘larder stock' I was quite nervous what I would get and a bit too shy and unsure where/who to ask for more or different things. Maybe before arrival some idea of what would be provided and then on arrival a little note to explain its OK to ask for more or to swap things. I know in the book it says ‘ask' but who/where/when might have helped me feel less nervous. I wondered if a hot water bottle was available – as much for comfort as for heat. I missed having Compline together. |
| |
… the Pig Pen was just right – comfortable, spacious, well equipped, great view, nice creative touches warm! The context of the site and community - inspiring, stabilising, safe, highly organised. The chapels – beautiful, peaceful – sense of God's presence. Great bonus for me to be able to bring my cello and make free use of the Long Barn. I saw that Sheldon could be ideal for residential music.
I would have found my stay more useful/helpful/enjoyable if … there had been more opportunity to meet and chat with folk. I found the solitude a bit intense. …I'd had the opportunity for one-to-one prayer/counselling. |
| |
… I experienced the truth of Paul's words to the Philippians 4:19 ‘and my God will meet all your needs in Christ Jesus.' All my practical needs were met; I felt peace which helped me get the rest I so much needed and also the feeling of being very much loved and supported. The beauty of the countryside around so much helped and whoever designed the Pig Pens certainly was a very gifted and probably a powerful person. The chapel too was a place I found as a sanctuary where Jesus was very close and his voice and presence giving me the time and recharging I needed. The framework to each day – the prayers, intercessions and readings - gave my space shape, possibly a discipline I need but just to be the recipient of such wonderful home cooking; comfort and view from the big window made such a contribution to my stay, enabling me to rest and relax in those ‘everlasting arms' always there holding and supporting, gave me something I had not experienced before but realise it's something I need to repeat. My heart is full of gratitude for being led to you, for all the staff and community gave to me – and to Jesus. My prayers will continue for you all and the wonderful work you do. These words of a Christmas Carol come to mind: ‘How silently, how silently the wondrous gift is given…' Thank you for the gift of your love. |

… the overwhelming richness of the natural landscape locally, within which Sheldon nestles, which is wild yet also tame. The same applies to the land at Sheldon which is sensitively manicured to retain its beauty and enhance its wildlife.
… the freedom to immerse oneself in the beauty of all that Sheldon offers but with appreciation of the boundaries imposed by (a) the limitation of the site – that which is home - to protect any who may feel lost within and may be overwhelmed by outer spaciousness and (b) the sensitive rules provided to enable all to feel safe and therefore fully nurtured.
… the fact that the community members open their hearts so widely to embrace all comers and yet demonstrate clearly that they act from a place deep within and close to their own hearts.
… that when one surrenders and accepts that one has personal needs as Jesus did, one can also visit the home of Mary and Martha and receive the same gift of welcome and attention. This enables one to feel a close connection to, and deeper insight into, the ‘human-ness' of Jesus and can be very healing. One can leave feeling refreshed and replenished and with a greater love and acceptance of and for oneself. It has, for me, re-kindled the sacred flame I keep alight in the altar of my heart, so that I leave ready to resume the normal rhythm of my life with renewed intention to ‘Let your light so shine before all men etc …' on another level one can also attune to the models of Mary & Martha through the service provided here, seen and unseen and renew ones own intention to serve Jesus and humanity in whatever ways we can
I would have found my stay more useful/helpful/enjoyable if
… I could have stayed for longer!
… I'd brought my binoculars

… I found a peace not just physically, but spiritually, not even my mobile phone worked and so, for once, I could completely switch off from the demands of ministry. Everything was made as easy as possible with regard to food and comfort |
| |
… for fellowship, space and the luxury of time. Something has definitely taken root - the journey home took less time than usual ... but, I was aware that for the first time in months it felt unhurried and that I was noticing the scenery as well as the road. I shall hold unto the rhythm for as long as I can - may it last longer than the souvenir bottles of Martha's mild - which lasted for as long as it took my friends to discover that I was home!! And a huge thank you for the Christian names only policy .... wonderful to be label free for once. |
| |
... I found the peace and solitude I needed, yet with the comfort and security of not being alone. The love and care of the community is almost tangible, but not intrusive. This time and space was vital for me to make sense of the recent past and wait on the future with God. Sheldon has offered me the opportunity to take/see first tentative steps on the next stage of the journey - thank you. (The food is wonderful; the Pig Pen was cosy and generally the room was conducive to my current needs, although just occasionally felt very open to neighbours/passers by)
I would have found my stay more useful/helpful/enjoyable if ... I would have swapped the 2 easy chairs for one old comfortable chair in which to curl up and read! Thank you for finding space for me - I'm truly grateful. May God continue to bless all that you do and offer. |
| |
... I needed a place which felt welcoming and open and Sheldon did just that from the first 'phone call through to the reality of arrival. I felt valued and cared for, evident from the flowers on the table to abundant food in fridge and larder. (I rose to the challenge - after all mind, body and soul)! Looking for space, rest and peace I was given all I needed and felt held in the palm of God's hand. Thank you.
I would have found my stay more useful/helpful/enjoyable if ...
~ tissue box in Pig Pen
~ spare plastic wallet in file to take walk maps out in the rain
~ spare Flora containers and/or bags to pack picnic lunch in for walks. I used my clean ones, but after 2 days I had enough
~ prayer stool in chapel |
| |
| ... I arrived and felt peace. Everything has been just right! I have felt freedom to do my own thing and just "be". Practically I can't fault it. I have done several of the guided walks (all easy to follow) and found some of the sights and views breathtaking, especially the reservoirs and the circular walk around Fingle Bridge. I found one special place to pray was on the swing with St Francis. Later that day I happened upon two deer in the copse, rabbits, squirrels and wonderful soaring kites (birds - not sure about the spelling!). Perhaps I just wasn't looking before! Thank you for sharing this beautiful place and thank you for a very blessed few days. That is my only complaint that it was only a few days. |
| |
~ the immense natural beauty ... seen through the Pig Pen's picture window, was a delight for someone who can see only other houses and the occasional tree from the window at home!
~ staying here affords the feeling that everything has been carefully prayed over, and thoughtfully put together
~ the high level of physical comfort, particularly as my other retreat experiences have been austere and a bit grim!
I would have found my stay more useful/helpful/enjoyable if ...
~ there had been someone who offered help with luggage on arrival - I've been very ill and am unable to do much by way of trying
~ this is a minute grouse ... but what about a table mat or two, a pretty salad bowl and a mixing bowl. We were self-catering so these things were noticed - probably not an issue for the vast majority.
Thank you for a lovely stay. |
| |
... Time and space and real comfort. The patio area is so lovely - almost like another room! Even the weather was good - some miracle! Jacuzzi and massage were absolute bliss - first time in ages I have felt truly rested. Thank you too to the Youth Groups staying - their sounds grounded me in the world but were not intrusive. I love the pig on the bed - could you not sell them in the shop? (the pigs not the beds!)
I would have found my stay more useful/helpful/enjoyable if ... just a reminder that in warm weather with windows open, music and television sound carries! Also the Pig Pen doors need to be shut carefully -they slam very easily! |
| |
| ... It gave us all a complete break from church life. The surroundings at Sheldon are very peaceful - the refurbishment of the Pig Pens has made them modern and comfortable - we especially appreciated the view and the lilies! Our children enjoyed the shop and the woods and the loft. Being able to opt out and do our own thing is important to us - many thanks |
| |
~ Beautiful location with wonderful views across the Teign Valley.
~ The Pig Pens are a good size for one or two people and have great views for the large window.
~ The places of worship (Sanctuary, Old Chapel, New Chapel) are very well decorated and maintained and exude a sense of peace and a warm invitation to prayer.
~ The whole site is painstakingly cared for and very enjoyable to walk around
~ I was welcomed in at very short notice.
I would have found my stay more useful/helpful/enjoyable if ... the mattress was a bit firmer. |
| |
| ... The situation was “out of this world” enabling me to make good use of the opportunities of peace and quiet for my prayerful purpose. … the superb five-star accommodation with all domestic and home mod-cons including the fine touch of the small vase of garden flowers. More than home from home! The small garden outside each Pig Pen offered a warm welcome in itself and the friendly and helpful staff even on very brief encounters all added to the warmth and love of the entire week. |
| |
| ... I was very impressed with the new Pig Pen facility, which I used for the first time. I found it very comfortable and appreciated the view from the picture window. As ever the peacefulness and beauty of the surroundings were a help to my reflections, this time towards the end of a 3-month sabbatical. Many thanks … for this creative and renewing time. |
| |
| ... of the whole ambience of Sheldon. Really appreciated the grounds and especially the locations of various seats where it was easy to get in tune with the glories of nature and 'switch off' from the 'daily grind'. Standard and style of accommodation and catering arrangements also helped along the relaxation and refreshment process. Library another asset (found and read 3 novels in 3 days as well as a 'meatier' tome on Claire of Assisi!). Appreciated the sense of there being a supportive, though not 'smothering' community to hand if such support/care was needed. |
| |
... it gave me much needed space and quality "God" time. It is a wonderful place of peace and tranquility which gives an opportunity to escape from the world and permission to "be". Thank you. P.S. The food is fantastic!
I would have found my stay even more useful/helpful/enjoyable if ... I could have stayed longer!! |
| |
... no mobile phone reception! Great place to just 'be'. I needed some 'time out' to read, pray, walk and think - so perfect. Pig Pen was just fine - well equipped and pub down the road does good food. Supply of maps and walks was excellent - thank you. I will be recommending Sheldon to my fellows in ministry. The countryside around you is beautiful. I'm very envious of your variety of visitors to your bird feeders!!
I would have found my stay more useful/helpful/enjoyable if ... I was told about the school party when I booked, so no problem. However, me being in a Pig Pen was a bit of an issue for the school party! Each time they passed by in groups, the adult would stop them just short of Tamworth, remind them that "there's a man in the Pig Pen, be quiet", and they would pass by - all staring at me! They probably thought I was half man, half hog! .......It didn't detract from my stay, but it may have been easier all round if I was just ignored and no big deal made of me being there. |
| |
... the Pig Pens have been perfect for personal time with my new baby - without worrying about cooking and escalating housework. We haven't lacked anything, even the neighbours were pleased to have a baby next door and the Pig Pens seem to be effectively sound-proofed. A fantastic bolt hole and hope to be back, the hospitality, as always, is just right.
I would have found my stay at Sheldon more useful/helpful/enjoyable if ... it's a small niggle, but a more modern cot mattress would be nice with all the advice about SIDS (Sudden Infant Death). Unfortunately, ours would be too big or I'd donate it when we're done. |

| . We came grieving and as we turned the corner we beheld the beauty of the Farm House, silent tears could not be held back! Here we were placed in the Pig Pen - how appropriate, a place of transformation which we yearned for . in all our being. in the silence and the beauty of the view we encountered LOVE - and 'home bade us welcome' . and asked nothing of us. Love looked at us through the eyes of the community.love touched us by their kind hand shakes.love fed us by the delicious food cooked by the community, love caressed us through the sunshine and the rain, love spoke wordlessly albeit in the silence offered by the community. coming alongside . pouring out water . we felt simply loved and cherished. Thank you for providing a sanctuary, a safe space where we could just BE and BE loved and start the process of BEING restored. We left with hearts full of thanksgiving, having found 'jewels' within a community sharing resurrection LOVE. |

| I came here exhausted carrying heavy burdens and a backlog of work that seemed impossible to penetrate. In 2 1/2 days I have done a huge amount of it and written a difficult letter that has been waiting to be sent for several months. More than that I feel I have been "carried" by the peace of Christ in this place and can once again hear His call. This is so precious. Joining with the Community for prayers was glorious. There was enough in the liturgy that was familiar to make me feel at home! but the moments of silence, which were different to the way we pray at home, were rich with God's blessing and truth. Thank you for everything. PS the jacuzzi was heavenly! |
| |
| ... Thank you for your kind and generous hospitality. We feel that we have been looked after very well. The attention to detail was especially noted. You asked us to mention any problems. Just one or two: the toilet flush needs a certain knack to get it to work (one brief and one long push) and even this does not work sometimes! [Webeditor: yes, broken, now replaced.] There are a few ants around, but not troublesome. (Sat: correction, they are now troublesome). |
| |
| ... I hope that the Pig Pens have now had their final touches and that the group who did the first-footing enjoyed their stay. I was very impressed by the design and the outlook of the pens, I bet they will be very popular with the guests. |
| |
... My time at Sheldon was helpful and restorative. I came exhausted, worn down by the demands of the parish and by a lack of personal space over many weeks. My Tamworth Pig Pen was the most perfect place to be and I really did feel completely alone, uninterrupted and able to sleep, read, write, pray and think - a wonderful 'catch-up' time!... and the food was delicious! All fresh and beautifully prepared. Thank you.
I would have found my stay more useful/helpful/enjoyable if ... The only thing I longed for because of spending a lot of time writing at the table, was a slightly less flimsy straight-backed chair! Everything else was PERFECT! |
| |
| |
| ... We really enjoyed our two days at Sheldon and would like to come again. The plans for the Pig Pens are interesting, they look great and I hope you raise the necessary funds in good time. I think our children would enjoy sleeping on the sleeping platform ... We didn't find the chalet too basic but can understand that they need updating and really appreciated the keyboard you provided for us - thank you so much. It might be worth putting a sign by the bathroom sink as the water was extremely hot, I think a child could scald themselves. [Webeditor: thanks for drawing our attention to a fault in the system, now repaired.] I think it's excellent that SMM emphasizes that their ministry is for spouses as well as people in ministry, as a clergy wife myself that is very welcome. The whole site was so obviously soaked in prayer, I found it one of those 'thin' places where God seems somehow nearer. |
| |
| ... I had the private space for reflection which the centre provided. The quiet grounds and clear boundaries around what was my space were very conducive to thinking and refreshment. Thank you. |
