Being invited to join the Sheldon Theatre Company was an ‘adventure in faith’, stepping out with a mixed group of strangers to present something that would bring God’s amazing love alive. Comfort ye My People came together over weekends of living at Sheldon, eating and sleeping, praying and improvising, learning to trust one another and the creative Spirit. It was the pattern for 4 summer productions, times of joy and anguish, of balmy summer evenings as people gathered on the terraces, of rain, mud and uncertainty alongside our amazement as the audience remained, spellbound and so often deeply moved by what we offered.
I was enriched by all I learned, by the friendships made and by the privilege of being able to take part, often with my family, in a dynamic experience that spread beyond the special setting of Sheldon into our lives and choices.
