Recruiting : Reception Volunteer

Reception Volunteering

The Sheldon Reception is the first port of call for many people during the course of the day. It might be a guest arriving, someone settling their bill before departure, a trades or delivery person,  a guest popping in with a question, a request, or to buy something from the shop, or a guest waiting for a jacuzzi, massage or 1:1 appointment.

We aim to offer everyone a friendly welcome and to be able to help them straight away or refer on to another member of the team who can.

Here is a little bit more about reception volunteering.

Key skills and aptitudes

  • A sensitive, open and friendly manner and a willingness to be of service
  • Basic computer skills (reception volunteers will routinely check emails, view Outlook calendars, view our electronic bookings diary, search for, open and print documents)
  • Operate electronic till and card payment machine
  • Make hot drinks, keep drinks area topped up and tidy, wash up
  • Clerical tasks such as folding, stapling, collating, filing
  • Cleaning and re-stocking shop display
  • Using internal telephone system to contact other team members and/or writing clear legible messages to pass on
  • Expected to abide strictly by confidentiality rules to protect the privacy of guests

Ideally we are looking for someone to come for a regular whole day. The minimum commitment is one half day per week (we find this is necessary to use the skills with sufficient frequency to be able to remember and use them confidently).
