The Pound House

The Pound House is a snug and characterful 17th century cob barn renovated to 21st century standards of comfort.

For large groups:

Groups of 15 - 30 people generally book the Pound House and the Long Barn together.

The Pound House has the larger kitchen. We are adding a semi-permanent marquee on the Pound House lawn. This will provide ideal well-ventilated space for meeting and/or eating.

Indoors there is a long dining room with lots of natural light looking out onto the terrace and lawn. The Cider Press and Quiet Room are cosy spaces for smaller meetings, breakout groups, etc.

Upstairs are en-suite bedrooms.

For small groups:

If your group is happy to use the slightly smaller Long Barn kitchen, then the Pound House is cheaper to hire without its kitchen. In that case it provides additional bedrooms and meeting rooms to suit your needs. The Pound House can also be used on its own for cell groups.

Downstairs

Disabled access: The Dining Room and Cider Press are step free and wheelchair friendly. The toilets and Quiet Room are on a lower level accessed by steps internally or a step-free path externally.

Dining Room: Long room with sliding doors opening onto terrace. Facilities for making hot drinks. Folding/stacking furniture suitable for eating, meeting or activities. Good ventilation plus extractor system plus portable UVC air sanitiser.

Cider Press: Sofas and comfortable chairs make cosy meeting space OR tables and chairs to extend the dining room.

Quiet Room: Smallest room with the comfiest chairs.

Kitchen: Plenty of working and circulation space. 3 electric ovens, 8 boiling plates, freezer, 2 fridges, microwave, dishwasher, 2 sinks.

Facilities: Downstairs toilets (3 - 2 are wheelchair accessible) and showers (1) - these can also be used in conjunction with camping in adjacent field for extra numbers.

Upstairs

All bedrooms are en-suite (shower in all except room 5 which has a bath).

Rooms 1 - 5 each have an upholstered armchair as well as table and upright chair. Room 6 is very small and has table and upright chair only.

The stairs have good handrails but there is no wheelchair/lift access to the first floor. The best accommodation for guests with mobility difficulties are the Pig Pens.

Oct 20: Please note that rooms 1 and 6 are currently OUT OF ACTION. Please check availability before booking.
