Love set you going

Led by Janet Morley

Throughout our lives, various kinds of human love – longed for, experienced, maybe lost – give us insight into the love of God, which set us going, continually searches us out, and will embrace us in eternity.

Poets have explored the huge variety of love, and its many stages, with honesty, passion and humour: love up and down the generations; ‘grown up’ erotic love; and the ways of God with the human heart.

In the run up to St Valentine’s day, we will explore the themes of love in our own lives, using Janet Morley’s new anthology, Love Set You Going – poems of the heart, SPCK 2019.

This retreat includes input, reflection/creative space, 1:1 opportunities, daily prayers and one Eucharist. There may be some (optional) structured conversation within sessions, but the retreat will otherwise be silent.

Janet Morley is a freelance writer who has previously worked for Christian Aid and the Methodist Church. Recent poetry selections with commentaries are The Heart’s Time, Haphazard by Starlight, and Our Last Awakening, all published by SPCK. Janet will be assisted by Anne Phillips, Anglican priest and educator.

This event is open to everyone.
