Another Christ

Led by Andrew Mayes

This retreat resources us by exploring refreshing and re-invigorating images of ministry.

Picking up on the latest biblical researches and his experiences in the Holy Land, where he has lived for some years, Andrew Mayes introduces us to stunning images that can inspire ministry as we seek to grow in Christlikeness. What would our ministry look like, we will ask, if we modelled it on Christ the mystic, Christ the builder, Christ the rebel, Christ the reveller, Christ the jester, Christ the iconoclast, Christ the brother, Christ the trailblazer? Such images derive from the latest New Testament scholarship and discoveries in the holy land, but they have not yet been related to the practice of ministry, which is supposed to be based on a call to greater Christlikeness.

The retreat Another Christ: re-envisioning ministry (based on Andrew's book by this title) will include plenty of times for reflection as we open ourselves to the ever-rejuvenating and energizing grace of the Gospel.

Daily Eucharist | Fully silent retreat | Addresses, suggested prayer exercises and plenty of time for reflection

Andrew Mayes was director of ministerial formation and spirituality adviser to the Diocese of Chichester, and has also lived in Jerusalem for some years. Currently he is Spirituality Adviser to the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf and parish priest of Limassol.  www.spiritualityadviser.com
